Foster Process
Requirements to Foster
Complete a foster form for review. If selected a meet & greet will take place with the potential foster family and a BYAR representative. Expectations of a foster family are to provide the pet with adequate food, water, daily exercise, and a safe warm indoor place to reside. Ensure pet is not left in cars or outside, bring to all veterinary appointments, meet & greets, events, and adoption appointments.
Fostering is Rewarding
By fostering a pup in need you are saving the life of a pup that may otherwise had been euthanized. Fostering gives them the time they need to get the care, attention and love in preparation of getting adopted. It helps socialize them which they will not get sitting in a kennel at a facility. We learn about the dog’s behaviors and habits which enables us to place him/her in the right home for both pet and family. Socializing the dog in a home environment gets him/her used to being around new people, kids, and other pets. You are literally saving a life.
The Boneyard Control/Authorization
Any foster may refuse any specific pet for any reason without needed explanation. We want you to be comfortable with fostering and would never want to put you in a position that would make you uncomfortable. All medical expenses that are approved by The Boneyard will be treated at Brookville Animal Hospital. The Boneyard organization makes no guarantees or statements regarding the dogs, age, breed, health, or temperament. We have made every effort to provide accurate assessment and history of the pet. The Boneyard retains legal control of all animals.
